Dish Network is DirecTV’s number one rival andprimary competitor within the U.S. for satellite programming. In 1996 when DishNetwork was originally created they used an 18-incesatellite dish called Dish 300 that allowed satellitesubscribers to receive a satellite signal from one satellitelocation. Currently, Dish Network employs20-inch satellite dishes called the Dish 500. The Dish 500allows satellite subscribers to receive satellite signals fromtwo different satellite locations simultaneously.
Most recently, a slightly larger satellite dish(36-inchesx20-inches) referred to as “Super Dish) are beingintroduced to the satellite market with the capacity to receivesatellite signals from three different satellite locationssimultaneously. Both the Dish 500 and the Super Dish aredominating the satellite industry as Dish Network is attemptingto allow more programming on their expanding satellite systems.This is particularly popular through local, national Americantelevision networks and foreign programming. Simply put, DishNetwork is the giant of satellite providers within thesatellite industry. The simple fact of the matter is DishNetwork is a step above the rest!
